The Arts Club Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award 2020

25th October 2020
The Arts Club Classic Music Awards winner

‘This year we have seen the impact of the global pandemic on creative industries and now more than ever, we are pleased to provide a platform and shine a light on emerging talent.’

– Sir Karl Jenkins.

With limited funding available within the arts, The Arts Club Sir Karl Jenkins Music Prize, in association with Classic FM, provides gifted musicians with the vital support needed to pursue their talent.

Now in its sixth year, twelve candidates are selected from numerous applicants, to perform before an audience at The Arts Club, in a live semi-final, before the judging panel select six finalists to perform.

Sir Karl Jenkins is joined on the judging panel by a senior representative from Classic FM; music educationalist, Carol Barratt; Senior Vice President of Universal Classics, Mark Wilkinson; former Chief Executive at ABRSM, Leslie East OBE; and prominent guitarist, MILOŠ. The consultation panel includes esteemed soloists Alison Balsom OBE, Dame Evelyn Glennie and Catrin Finch.

We are delighted to announce this year’s winner as Julie Park, following spellbinding performances from our six, talented finalists.

Unanimously chosen by the judging panel, Julie’s viola performance saw her take the £4,000 prize. Julie will also be invited to record an exclusive composition, especially written by Sir Karl Jenkins, which will be played on Classic FM.
