Rana Begum, Roksanda Ilinčić and Stina Quagebeur in Conversation

Rana Begum, Roksanda Ilinčić and English National Ballet’s Associate Choreographer Stina Quagebeur joined us to celebrate the launch of Catching Colour, a new outdoor installation created by Begum for London’s public art walk, The Line. This dramatic work features clouds of suspended coloured mesh, partly inspired by memories from Begum’s Bangladeshi childhood of the forms and reflections cast by fishing nets suspended over water – a fitting response to the natural environment of London City Island, where the work is installed, and the River Lea that surrounds it.

The three speakers have collaborated on a specially commissioned short performance that responds to Begum’s work, choreographed by Quagebeur, with the dancers wearing clothes designed by Begum’s long-time collaborator, Ilinčić.

Moderating the discussion was Megan Piper, Co-Founder and Director of The Line.
