Tobias began his hospitality career in Germany, where he worked for various high-end venues. During this time, he also pursued his higher education by procuring two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Hospitality Management.

Moving to London in 2005, he started his career within the Roka and Zuma group. Successfully moving on to developing and opening the brand in China, America and the Middle East; returning to London to open another project for the group.

In May 2011 he transferred to The Arts Club as Assistant General Manager; where as a result of his extensive experience within the hospitality industry both nationally and internationally, he is now responsible for the operational side of running the Club.


 

SAYAKA WATANABE
SAYAKA WATANABE
Brasserie General Manager

Started her hospitality career in Tokyo where she was born. She returned to London where she grew up and successfully completed a Diploma in Hotel Management; this took her to the illustrious Park Hyatt Tokyo. Rainer Becker, the ‘Opening’ Executive Chef there had moved on to open a Japanese restaurant - Zuma in London, whom she approached with a novel concept of introducing the idea of a sake sommelier. 

She joined the Zuma and Roka group in 2002 as the UK’s first Sake Sommelier, introducing innumerable sake brands to the London market. Sayaka went on to spend seven and a half years as the Group Sake Sommelier and Restaurant Trainer, assisting in the global expansion of the brand in Hong Kong, Macao, Istanbul, Dubai and Miami.

Sayaka joined the newly refurbished Arts Club as Assistant General Manager.

GEORGE PELL

Nightclub General Manager
George started his career in hospitatlity working as a chef for a high-end events company, later moving on to work in some of Bath's top restaurants. He studied History of Art at the University of Nottingham and moved to London in 2006.

After moving to London, George worked at Home House Members club on their management programme. He progressed from Front of House into general management and was part of the opening team of the new extension at 21 Portman Square before taking up the position of Nightclub General Manager here at The Arts Club.

After 10 years heading up The Ivy and The Ivy Club, Nigel has taken a stroll up Piccadilly and is now overseeing the front of house operation at the Club.

Reception & Reservations Manager

Amelie graduated in 2005 in Marketing.  After a two year spell working in France, she moved to London and worked for contemporary establishments like Momo's and Daylesford Organic.  In both places she worked up to management positions.  She joined The Arts Club team in 2011 and is the Reservation and Reception Manager.

 

HENRIETTA PHILIPPS

Director of Membership
Henrietta’s extensive travelling took her far and wide from spending a year working on the edge of Ranthambore National Park, hosting a tented camp; to working at The Ski Club Of Australia followed by spending several months in New Zealand working with young race horses. 

In 2006 Henrietta began her career in events in At Your Service, training staff and running events, specializing in film premiers, royal parties and corporate events.

She joined The Arts Club in 2008 before it was taken over by the new owners as Membership Executive taking ownership of all events and membership.  In October 2011, Henrietta was promoted to Membership Director.  
GIOVANNI TAGLIAMONTE

Bars Manager

Giovanni's management career commenced in London where he successfully developed bars and clubs for well-known market leader companies. He has attained a certificate from the 'Wines Spirits Education Trust', mixology and administration which enabled him to train Front of House personnel in all aspects of operations including mixology.

His seven years of experience, which began in Italy, is reflected in his creative cocktails and the new bar menu that he has launched here. Giovanni's passion came from working from a very young age, shadowing 'Master's' where he first saw, how high the bar was set!! 

SUSANNA WARREN
SUSANNA WARREN
Director of Member Events and Entertainment

Susanna finished a diploma in Song at Paul McCartney's music school LIPA in 2007, deciding to keep music as a passion and to pursue a keen interest of events management. Cutting her teeth in an events role at Quintessentially New York, she then went on to spend two years at Added Dimension, creating and organising high profile events for both private and corporate clients.

Following this and quenching a love of theatre and production, Susanna worked for six months at Vaudeville in Cape Town and Proud Cabaret in London, learning the ropes of the restaurant world, as well as producing cabaret, theatre and musical shows. Joining the team from the reopening of The Arts Club in September 2011, Susanna came on board to direct the music, entertainment and member events programme throughout the club.

NILPA PATEL

Financial Controller

Nilpa is Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, with over 10 years' post qualification experience. Her extensive experience in finance and management accounting was gained predominately within the media sector, working for large terrestrial and digital media companies such as the BBC and ITV. A significant accomplishment of hers was being an integral part of the team involved in the launch of a new lifestyle channel for UKTV in 2006.

Her experience of managing television channels such as ITV2, ITV3, Nickelodeon and 10 Digital channels for UKTV has enabled her gain sound financial experience and provide strategic and financial management support. Her career to date provides Nilpa with valuable skills which she brings to The Arts Club as Financial Controller.

ATHILA ROOS

Head Sommelier

A Brazilian coming from a Marketing/Advertisement background in Sao Paulo, settled in London back in 2005 where he started as a receptionist for the Best Western Hotel group, before working his way up to management on an up market chain of convenience stores in South London, where the interest for wine blossomed. He then moved to work for Bibendum Wines (one of the UKs biggest wine suppliers), managed a tasting club, got his accreditations from WSET and headed an internal marketing campaign which – amongst other achievements – led the company to win the “International Wine Challenge Corporate Social Responsibility 2010” and “The Drinks Business UK Green Company of the Year”. 

In 2009 he then moved to work as a sommelier for Roka and Zuma Restaurant, in Knightsbridge, before becoming Head Sommelier at the Savoy Hotel. Since august 2011 he’s been back with “the family” for the challenging re-opening project of the Arts Club to run the most exciting wine team in the country.


 

ALEXANDRE BONNEFOY

Assistant Head Sommelier

Alex moved to London in November 2004 to study Sound Engineering at London Met University, graduating in 2009. Whilst still a student, he worked at Hakkasan where he discovered and developed his passion for wine. Working closely with Christine Parkinson, he actively participated in delivering the Hakkasan wine list. Sake No Hana's opening sake and champagne list was also part of the teaming up.

At The Double Club (Carsten Holler and Prada Foundazione Pop up Art Project) he was Senior Sommelier, moving to Sketch as Assistant Restaurant Manager. More recently Alex teamed up with Nuno Mendes as the F&B Manager of Viajante which got a Michelin star in it's first year of business. Looking for the next challenge, he joined us as Assistant Head Sommelier and is currently studying for his Wine & Spirit Diploma.
